Tej Pratap Yadav on Wednesday exchanged rings with his fiancee
Aishwarya Rai at a posh hotel in Patna.
Aishwarya Rai, who is an MBA from Amity University, is the granddaughter of former Bihar CM Daroga Prasad Rai and eldest daughter of former minister and RJD MLA Chandrika Rai. Aishwarya’s mother is a teacher in a Patna-based college.
Tej Pratap and Aishwarya are likely to marry on May 12 in the state capital.
Lalu Prasad, who is currently under judicial custody after his sentence in the fodder scam cases, was not present at the ring ceremony. However, other family members - including Tej Pratap’s mother Rabri Devi, eldest sister and Rajya Sabha member Misa Bharti, younger brother and Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, Tejashwi’s brother-in-law and Samajwadi Party MP from Mainpuri (UP) Tej Pratap Singh Yadav and most of the sisters and close relatives of Lalu family - were present at the ceremony.
More than 100 close relatives and friends attended the ring ceremony on Wednesday.
Tej Pratap represents Vaishali district’s Mahua constituency in Bihar assembly. He was health and environment & forest minister in the grand alliance government headed by Nitish Kumar.
Tej Pratap’s picture with Aishwarya went viral recently after the couple met at the Patna airport in presence of the Bihar Pradesh Mahila Congress chief Amita Bhushan. They had a chance meeting at the airport when Tej Pratap was returning from New Delhi after meeting his father
Lalu Prasad at AIIMS-Delhi and Aishwarya was leaving for the national capital for shopping.
