Keep off extremist groups, Kunhalikutty tells youth

Alleges BJP extending financial support for such groups

Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) general secretary P.K. Kunhalikutty, MP, has exhorted the youth to keep away from Muslim organisations which encourage extremism.

“There is a rumour that the BJP is providing advice and financial support for such groups. Nothing is impossible in the country now. The BJP has already communalised almost all democratic institutions. They are trying to fish in troubled waters. The Muslim youth should follow the party guidelines. If they start to act according to their will, the situation will be out of control,” he said.

Mr. Kunhaliutty was speaking after inaugurating the Seethi Sahib Academia, a political study centre, here on Wednesday.

“The political wind in Karnataka is in favour of the Congress. But some Muslim extremist groups are playing games there to divert votes by speaking religious fundamentalism. It makes the game easy for the BJP,” he said.

There were some offices which were ‘busy’ on the ‘fake hartal’ day. ‘‘We should know who are making benefit out of such moves. We should fight against such forces. The LDF government here neglects such games,’’ he said.

Muslim Youth League State president Sayyid Munavvar Ali Shihad Thangal said there were efforts to create an atmosphere of hatred in the socio-political sectors.

“We should be intelligent enough to realise the provocations by the malicious people. There should be efforts to douse the fire ignited by fanatists in the beginning itself,” he said.

IUML leader Sayyid Sadiqali Shihab Thangal launched the Seethi Sahib Academia. Pramod Raman and P.A. Raheed spoke about ‘Media that determine the direction’ and ‘Seethi Sahib study’ respectively.
