KRCL begins recruitment drive with preference to land-losers

As many as 178 vacancies in different categories to be filled

Close on the heels of the mega recruitment drive by the Indian Railways, the Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. (KRCL) too has begun recruitment to technical and non-technical posts in the corporation.

Candidates with domicile of Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra only can apply, besides those from land-loser families for KRCL projects. Preference would be given to land-loser candidates and only after exhausting the panel of names in this category, other candidates will be considered.

In all, 178 vacancies are sought to be filled by KRCL in the categories of electrician and electrical signal-telecom maintainer (technical categories); station master, goods guard, accounts assistant and senior clerk (non-technical categories).

The notification announcing recruitment to technical posts was published on the KRCL website http://www.konkanrailway.com/pages/viewpage/current_notifications, on March 23, and the window to submit online applications closes on April 30. The non-technical posts vacancy was advertised on April 5 and the window closes on May 12. Only online applications are entertained.

KRCL has prescribed Class 10 plus ITI or Class 10 plus Course Completed Act Apprentice in relevant trades for technical posts. It will not entertain candidates with diplomas or degrees in engineering for these posts. The minimum age limit is 18 years and the maximum is 30, which can be relaxed for candidates from SC/ ST, OBC-non creamy layer and ex-servicemen as per rules.

For non-techincal posts, any graduation is the minimum qualification for station master, goods guard and senior clerk posts and B. Com for accounts assistant post. The maximum age limit is 33 years for these posts and can be relaxed to reserved categories as per rules. Computer-based test (CBT) and document verification are the two processes for recruitment to technical posts as well as all non-technical posts except station masters. Station masters’ selection process also includes aptitude test besides CBT and DV.
