WARANGAL:  Even as the brutal gangrape and murder of 8-year-old girl in Rassana village of Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir has sparked widespread protests across the country, an incident of a five-year-old girl being allegedly sexually assaulted by two minor boys has come to light. Though the incident took place two months ago, it came to light after the girls’ mother lodged a complaint with Subedari police station on Sunday night.

Both the accused, who are about 17-years old, have been arrested and sent to juvenile home after being produced before the juvenile court. They have been charged under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, Section (2) and 327. Disclosing this to media on Monday, Warangal city police commissioner V Ravinder said a woman from Amravatinagar in Hanamkonda area had lodged a complaint in Subedari police station accusing two of her minor relatives of sexually assaulting her five-year-old daughter when they visited the accused house two months ago.

The woman in her complaint stated that the two accused, who are doing B.Tech and polytechnic, assaulted her daughter when no one was at home. The mother came to know about the crime after the girl complained of pain in her private parts and she took her to a local doctor who confirmed that the girl was sexually assaulted. When she told the matter to family members, they advised her not to lodge a complaint with the police as it would affect the reputation of the girl.

However, after mustering courage the woman lodged the complaint. Police after conducting preliminary investigation arrested the duo and during interrogation they reportedly confessed their crime. Since both were minors they were produced before juvenile court and sent to juvenile home.
