Chief Minister will inaugurate the celebrations, says Chinarajappa

Home Minister N. Chinarajappa has said that arrangements are in place to celebrate the centenary of the East Godavari Zilla Parishad on a grand scale next month.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu would take part in the inaugural of the celebrations. A series of programmes, including unveiling of the statue of the late NTR and a monument to commemorate the centenary, would be held during the celebrations,” Mr. Chinarajappa said while unfurling the special flag designed for the occasion here on Tuesday. Recalling that Zilla Parishad was the launching pad for many politicians, including the former Lok Sabha Speaker, late G.M.C. Balayogi, who had rendered remarkable service to the district. “Even I had worked as a member of the Zilla Parishad and got an opportunity to develop the district,” he said.

Local bodies

Mr. Chinarajappa further said that the State government was keen on strengthening the local bodies and developing infrastructure and facilities in the rural pockets. “We have given special importance for laying cement concrete roads to villages and built classrooms in the government schools,” he said.

Zilla Parishad chairman Jyothula Naveen Kumar said that the schedule of the celebrations would be released once the Chief Minister’s office released the itinerary. “The Chief Minister agreed to take part in the historic function and felicitate the senior members of the Zilla Parishad. We are roping in all the stakeholders in the celebrations by taking out rallies and flag-hoisting ceremonies at the village level,” he said. Chief Executive Officer R. Govinda Rao and other officials were present.
