Make children feel valuable

17 April 2018, 10:23

National Children's Day is a day when each child should feel that they are loved unconditionally by their family and community. Children should feel valuable. Children are valuable. In fact our children should be considered as our most prized possessions, if we can call them that.

Since 2013, we have celebrated National Children’s day each year as community in Eldorado Park, starting with just over 300 children and last year over 1200.

Our children do not play anymore. They need to be adults as adults regularly misuse and abuse them. Our children know deep sadness, something a child should not know. We should help them find their inner joy and playfulness.

That is why on the first Saturday of November we organise a BIG PARTY FOR FREE! The children in and around Eldorado Park are all invited and parents usually come and help too. We have jumping castles, horse rides, arts and crafts, games, a petting zoo and a talent show.

Let us focus on what is good and show our children that life has great possibilities. Let us help children create memories that will last a lifetime. When our children become adults, they will give back what they have learned, adding value to other children’s lives.

Yes, our children are valuable, but they need to FEEL it. They need to KNOW it. They need to BELIEVE it. You and I can make this happen. Just organise a similar event in your own community like we are doing in ours and make children feel valuable.
