THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Vanchiyoor police has begun a search for a 60-year-old man who went absconding after allegedly stabbing his 29-year-old son-in-law to death. The deceased has been identified as Krishnakumar, son of Sudhakaran and Prabhavathi of Suryakanti House, Melethottuvila, near Nemom.
According to the police, the incident took place when Krishnakumar tried to visit his wife and newborn child at a private hospital near the General Hospital on Sunday.

“Krishnakumar who was a driver at the Cooperation Department had come to visit his wife Aleena who gave birth to the child,” said an officer with Vanchiyoor police station. “We suspect there were some family issues and Krishnakumar was stopped from meeting his newborn baby. The incident is said to have happened at around 5.30pm.”

As per police accounts, as Krishnakumar tried to enter the ward where his wife was admitted, Udayakumar stopped him midway and stabbed him with a sharp weapon leaving his heart and lungs punctured. Krishnakumar’s friend Akhil was also injured in the attack. Though Krishnakumar was provided preliminary medical aid, he succumbed to his injuries. Krishnakumar’s body was handed over to relatives after an autopsy at the Medical College.
