Strive to win 2019 polls,YSRCP cadre told

‘YSR Ganga Harathi’ performed at Siddhapuram reservoir

YSR Congress Party national secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy on Tuesday called upon the party’s rank and file to work with commitment to come to power in the 2019 elections.

Mr. Reddy, senior party leaders and MLAs along with former MLC Silpa Chakrapani Reddy gave YSR Ganga Harathi to Siddhapuram reservoir at Atmakur in Kurnool district and addressed a public meeting. As many as 1,200 women carried bonalu on their heads and performed pooja to Gangamma.

While former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy was an exemplary leader who still remained in the hearts of the people, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu showed how a leader should not be, Mr. Ramakrishna Reddy said. YSR completed 90% of work on Siddhapuram reservoir, but Mr. Naidu was lifting the gates like a ‘laskar’ and claiming credit for the project, he alleged.

‘Farmers betrayed’

The Telugu Desam government, in the name of loan waiver, betrayed farmers and deprived them of remunerative price, senior party leader Ummareddy Venkateswarlu alleged.

Mr. Naidu claimed to make Rayalaseema fertile by completing the Pattiseema lift irrigation scheme, he said and asked the former to explain whether the region got a drop of water on account of Pattiseema. He dubbed Mr. Naidu’s claims of achieving 14.6% growth as a mere propaganda.

Stating that party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy sticks to value-based politics, party leader Dharmana Prasada Rao pointed out that Mr. Chakrapani Reddy was taken into party fold only after he quit the MLC post. The 23 MLAs, who defected to the TDP, lost the people’s confidence, he added.

Mr. Chakrapani Reddy said that YSR had completed almost all irrigation projects.
