9th annual Grizzly Give Back Day held Saturday

Despite the cold temperatures on Saturday, Butler Community College students and staff members participated in the 9th Annual Grizzly Give Back Day.
A day is set aside each year as students, faculty, and staff come together to express their gratitude for the support from surrounding communities through service-oriented  activities around the county.
The wide variety of activities included cleaning, planting flowers, shrubs and trees, raking leaves, landscaping, painting, picking up trash, and interacting with community members and residents.
Brian Alfaro, City of Augusta’s Parks Foreman, was on hand at Play Park while Give Back Day was in full force as participants were distributing new mulch in the playground area.
“This really helps out the city crews.  We’re happy that they include us each year,” Alfaro said.
This year’s experience was improved for groups, individual volunteers and community partners by the utilization of software that allowed the volunteers to choose the site they would serve.
