IPL banner falls on to tracks, trains affected

Mumbai: A banner of an Indian Premier League team fell on to tracks between Churchgate and Marine Lines stations, halting trains for around 10 minutes on Monday.

According to railway officials, the banner was approximately 30 feet x 10 feet, and fell from Wankhede stadium at 5.20 p.m. The banner hit the overhead electrical wires causing a temporary snag. The police said the banner belonged to Mumbai Indians, which was cleared off the tracks by 5.29 p.m. The trains between the two stations on both the slow lines were stopped causing bunching up of trains at other stations. Services resumed at 5.30 p.m.
