Kendrick Lamar is officially a Pulitzer Prize winner, thanks to his fourth studio album 'DAMN', which was released almost exactly a year ago.
It's the first win for a non-classical or jazz musician, since the awards began including music 75 years ago.
The Pulitzer board have noted that the album's authenticity and rhythmic dynamics offer affecting vignettes that capture the complexity if modern African-American life.
The album received widespread critical acclaim and topped many charts in the United States and Canada.
It debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and remained at the top for three weeks in a row.
It's since been certified double platinum.
Lamar has also won a number of other trophies for the LP, including Album of the Year at the 2017 BET Hip-Hop Awards, as well as Hip-Hop Album of the Year at the 2018 iHeartRatio Music Awards.
Not to mention Best Rap Album at the 20818 Grammys.
