BHUBANESWAR:   Bhubaneswar emerged as the hottest place in the State on Monday after mercury shot up to 41.2 degree Celsius. As many as 10 stations, including the State Capital, reported 40 degree-plus temperature suggesting a heat wave condition on the anvil. In Bhubaneswar, it was severe as the mercury was at least four degree above normal.

The India Meteorological Department said maximum temperature was above normal over the State and possibility of it rising during the week is strong. Over next two to three days, the maximum temperature may rise by two to three degree Celsius over eastern parts of the country. In Bhubaneswar, the hot conditions will prevail till April 19 with thundershowers occurring sparingly. Independent weather forecaster Skymet said Odisha will receive scattered thundershowers on April 17, 18 and 21 which could provide some relief after evening.
