Mofro was nowhere around. Instead, it was just JJ Grey, his guitars and a kick drum.
The Jacksonville singer-songwriter did the one-man-band thing for his April 13 show at Southwest Florida Event Center in Bonita Springs. Grey grinned and sipped whiskey as he told stories and poured his heart into blues/funk/soul songs such as "Country Ghetto," "This River," "Slow, Hot and Sweaty" and the joyful "The Sun Is Shining Down."
Grey and his band Mofro have become regulars in the local music scene, playing everywhere from Point Ybel Brewing Company to Buckingham Blues Bar to last year’s headlining gig at the Big Orange Fest in Punta Gorda.
