New Belagavi Police Commissioner

The State government, in consultation with the Election Commission, has appointed M. Chandrashekar, Inspector General of Police, as the Police Commissioner of Belagavi.

The 1998 batch IPS officer hails from Nellore in Andhra Pradesh. He studied aerospace engineering from IIT Kharagpur. He served for five years in Himachal Pradesh before joining service in Karnataka.

DIG D.C. Rajappa, who had a criminal case pending before the Karnataka Lokayukta regarding his disproportionate assets, has been transferred. The Belagavi Commissioner’s post has been upgraded to IGP from DIG.
