A self-help center for Lee County civil court matters will be available starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
The center, on the first floor of the Lee County Justice Center’s east entrance at 1700 Monroe Street in Fort Myers, was developed by the Lee County Clerk of Court office to assist those wishing to represent themselves in civil court and will provide computers and staff to help with filing civil actions.
Additionally, attorneys have partnered with the clerk’s office to provide limited consultation services at $1 per minute.
The center will also help with obtaining and e-filing court documents, getting certified and notarized copies of documents, obtaining child/family support payment history documents as well as with filing small claims or eviction cases through an online system, TurboCourt.
The center will open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. To schedule an attorney appointment call 239-533-5000 or stop by the center. Attorney appointments are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A non-refundable payment is required at scheduling.
The consultations will be in 15-minute sessions, for up to 30 minutes per case and the $1 per minute charge must be paid at scheduling. The attorneys that provide legal assistance at the center cannot represent the individual in court. Fees also apply for copies of documents.
