With guest after guest staying in the same room and the same bed, hotel workers have a habit of revealing a room’s dirty secrets.
Should you ever use the air-conditioning unit in your room?
The answer is no, and this surprising item is one of the dirty and most unhygienic parts of your room.
It has also been revealed how travellers can secure a free upgrade and get the most out of their room service.
You should be able to get a better room free of charge
A hotel has hundreds of rooms at different rates so how do you know if you’re choosing the right one?
According to the Daily Mail, the best rooms, in the majority of cases, are the corner rooms.
Skyscanner revealed that these rooms are “almost always larger, with better views, and usually a bigger bathroom.”
The flight comparison site went on to add: “Best of all, they're not usually considered an upgrade, so you should be able to get a better room free of charge.”
Hotel staff tend to have a different view of an ‘upgrade’ than guests.

Simply asking for a corner room is not considered an upgrade by the hotel as the room is on the same floor and therefore the same price as a standard room.
However, the extra space the room provides could make your holiday stay that little more comfortably and according to Skyscanner, shouldn’t cost any more.
Stocking up on hotel toiletries is another way to make the most out of your hotel room.
Previous hotel secrets revealed that guests are in fact allowed to take the free products provided.
William Hanson, the MailOnline’s etiquette expert, explained which items in your room are yours to take.

He explained: “In terms of the toiletries left out by hotels if they are half used it is often better to take them as it is better for the environment and in many cases is encouraged.”
Similarly, other items that have been used and cannot be given to new guests also fall into this category.
Mr Hanson went on: "Other items that are already in the bathroom such as slippers are also fine to take as they cannot be used again once a guest has been wearing them."
However, there is a fine line between taking free products and stealing from the Hotel.
Taking items from the housekeeping cart, for instance, is classified as “just stealing.”
