Bhopal: A rape survivor committed suicide and a couple of hours later her depressed husband joined her for heavenly abode leaving behind their 5-year-old daughter. The 29-year-old married woman hanged herself at her home in Chola Mandir area on Saturday evening while her husband committed suicide on Sunday evening at his mother’s home in Hanumanganj area. In January, the woman had accused her brother-in-law of sexually assaulting her. On her complaint police had arrested the accused.
According to Chola Mandir police, the woman Rita Hindoliya took the extreme step when her husband was away. Chola Mandir SHO Pankaj Diwedi said that the deceased was found hanging at her home by her husband Vivek when he came from his mobile repair shop at around 10:30 pm. Their 5-year-old daughter lives with her grandmother at Laxmi talkies.
Vivek went to his mother’s place and inform the family about the incident. Thereafter he along with his family member went to house of his deceased wife’s parents. On Sunday, after the last rites of her wife, Vivek told his mother that he was not feeling well. Later he told his sister over phone that he will reach Shiv Nagar after taking bath.
However, while taking to his brother she sensed that something was not ok. Apprehensive of some mishap, the woman came to her mother’s house and found the door broken. To her shock she found her brother body hanging. According to Hanumanganj police station SHO Sudesh Tiwari, Vivek was found hanging at his mother’s home in Laxmi talkies area at around 6.30 pm. SHO said that the woman had levelled rape allegations against her brother-in-law in the month of January. He was arrested later.
