LETTER TO THE EDITOR

What did Obama's EPA get so right?

TO THE EDITOR:

I read “On emissions rule, we got it right in 2012” (April 9) expecting to see some factual data on why Gina McCarthy believes the previous administration “got it right.” Did they properly consider the fleet mix, gas prices, the economy, etc.? Did their computer models properly consider other factors that could affect the emissions inventory? Were regional differences properly accounted for? In short, what exactly did they do so right that they rushed the final rule through early instead of waiting for the midterm review?

I guess I’ll never know because all her article did was voice opinion, not present facts. This was not a rebuttal supported by data so much as it was a hit piece against the current administration resulting from having been found out. The review is back on simply because the EPA Ms. McCarthy ran DID NOT do it right, or even as agreed to with the OEMs. Things didn’t go the way they’d hoped on Election Day 2016, so they tried to lock in as much of what they wanted before they left. Their efforts have now been laid bare.
