Kathmandu, April 15
Inspector General of Police Sarbendra Khanal has directed all cops in Kathmandu Valley to bring to book human traffickers, gangsters and drug smugglers without compromise.
Addressing senior and junior police personnel working in the valley units today, he said, “You should act ruthlessly against persons and groups running criminal racket and initiate legal action against them immediately. We should never fail to deliver service as per people’s aspirations.” He encouraged them to discharge their duties with a high morale and without any fear.
The top cop also stressed that police personnel needed to set an example of good conduct and discipline. “I strongly direct all units in the valley to mobilise police in a planned way to strengthen overall security. It is high time to neutralise all elements trying to destabilise society and fully rein in hooligans, human traffickers, drug smugglers and those involved in crime against women and children,” he told the cops.
He urged police personnel to perform their assigned tasks to the best of their abilities and to abide by laws and rules in force. IGP Khanal also underscored the need to timely enhance the quality of police service and highlighted why police should be more responsible towards the victims and the needy.
