Actor-director Soubin Shahir

Director Johnpaul George, who debuted with the multiple Kerala State Film Award winning Guppy, has roped in Soubin Shahir for his next film, Ambili. The title is the name of the character played by Soubin.

The actor will be joined by two newcomers, Tanvi Ram and Naveen Nazim. According to Johnpaul, the film is different from Guppy: "It's a family-friendly road movie that will be shot in several Indian states." As evident from the first look poster, Soubin will be seen in a different avatar.

Speaking of the film's leading lady, Johnpaul said: "Tanvi Ram is a Kannur native based in Bangalore. She works in HSBC and has done some modelling work. The film will be mostly shot in rustic settings and we wanted someone who fits the role of the village belle perfectly.

Johnpaul hopes to start the shoot after two months with a goal to complete filming within this year. Considering the fact that it will be shot in multiple Indian states, Johnpaul expects some logistical challenges to accompany the production.
