BJP welcomes verdict, demands Cong. apology

Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party has demanded the Congress party and its president Rahul Gandhi to apologise to the ‘Hindu’ society for raising the ‘bogey of saffron terror’ following the aquittal of all the accused in the Mecca Masjid bomb blast case on Monday.

At a press conference, BJP president K. Laxman while welcoming the verdict of the Nampally court said it was like a ‘slap in the face’ of the UPA-led Congress regime. He claimed that the Congress wanted to show the entire Sangh Parivar in a bad light making use of the incident.

The Congress had resorted to political mudslinging and had foisted false cases against several innocents. The CBI did not complete the investigation till 2011 when the NIA took over and went through the case by talking to scores of witnesses and studying several documents.

Criticising the Majlis and Congress for trying to attribute motives to the judgement, he said it was in a way questioning the independence of judiciary and weaken the constitutional bodies. It was also an indication of the depths to which the party had fallen into, he said.

He wanted to know why the Congress had hailed the 2G verdict when their DMK allies were released and opposed the verdict now talking of political interference and shoddy investigation.
