Cape Coral Police are asking the public to avoid the area around 5/3 Bank after a suspect robbed the bank after showing a firearm.

The robbery occurred at the bank, 2724 Del Prado Blvd., about 1 p.m. with officers quickly setting up a perimeter. Aviation, Forensics, Major Crimes Unit detectives and the Public Affairs Office have responded to the scene.  

The suspect is initially described as a white male, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighing about 200 pounds. He was wearing  a blue hat featuring a cobra, and an orange button-up shirt over a white "Hard Rock Cafe" T-shirt 

Witnesses said he showed a firearm during the robbery.

Nearby St. Andrews School was on lock down as a precaution, the news release indicated.
