Vijay Rupani exhorted 396 cadets of different cadres inducted into the Police Force at the passing out parade at the
Police Academy at Karai here today to live up to the image of noble profession they now belong to.
The personnel passing out include 40 armed police sub-inspector, 40 intelligence officers, assistant police inspectors and unarmed lok rakshaks. They include 34 women intelligence officers and women assistant intelligence officers.
He said that policemen should live up to the image of noble profession like that of teachers and doctors, uniform should instill fear among criminals and a feeling of safety among the law-abiding citizens, and more so towards women, oppressed sections of the society to ensure innocent people are not harassed.
Rupani said that Gujarat Police has better image than their counterparts, peaceful passage of festivals like Rathyatra, Moharrum and Eid confirming this.
He asked the police personnel to be particularly alert and equipped to deal with cyber crime and economic offences, in the wake of increased commercial activities and growing application of technology in different fields. Inclusion of intelligence officers in police training is part of the exercise. He said that
Gujarat Raksha Shakti University has been instrumental in churning out police personnel carved out of different jobs for the safety of people.
Rupani presented medals and prizes to the winners of best performance in different categories.
Minister of State for Home Pradipsinh Jadeja, Additional Chief Secretary Home M.S. Dagur, Director-General of Police Shaivanand Jha, other senior police officers and families of passing-out trainees were present at the ceremony.
Karai Police Academy Director and Additional Director-General of Police Training K.K. Oza gave details of the Academy since its inception in 2001. Academy Joint Director Nipuna Torwane administered oath towards the Constitution of India and duty.
