Edrea M. Cooke, 99, passed away on April 14, 2018

Edrea Mildred Cooke, 99, passed away in her home at Presbyterian Manor in Arkansas City on April 14, 2018.
Memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday April 18, 2018,  at the Winfield Presbyterian Church.  
She was an Olathe, Kan. farm girl born on Jan. 17, 1919 to Dean and Madge Lorimer.  She graduated from Olathe High School and then attended Sterling College where she met her future husband, Charles Cooke.  After receiving her teaching degree in 1938, she taught in a one-room school house in Olathe for two years before marrying and becoming a homemaker.  Edrea was the beloved wife of 67 years to the late Charles Wilken Cooke.  They were united in marriage on Aug. 28, 1940 in Olathe.  She was the devoted mother to Dennis Cooke and Linda (Cooke) Johnson, grandmother to Charli (Johnson) Sumpter, Echo (Cooke) Lee, Lacy Cooke, Mike Wolf and Matt Wolf, and great grandmother to 12.  
She was a wonderful homemaker, an involved parent and caregiver, a strong supporter of persons with special needs, a forever Presbyterian with a deep faith in God.  She loved music, theatre, knitting, crocheting, reading, painting and above all, her family.  
Edrea is survived by: her son, Dennis Cooke and his wife Rhonda;  her daughter, Linda Johnson; four grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.  
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; brother, Wayne Lorimer; and sister, Esther Franke.
