Bengaluru artists express outrage against sexual assaults on World Art Day

BENGALURU: On the occasion of World Art Day, on Sunday, Bengalureans displayed their creativity and expressed their outrage against the recent sexual assaults on minor girls in Kathua in Jammu & Kashmir and Unnao in Uttar Pradesh. The venue was Rangoli Metro Art Centre at MG Road Metro Station.
A 100-foot-wide canvas was displayed here from 11 am to 7.30 pm. More than 200 participants comprising artists, art students, art lovers and members of the public participated.
According to Chief Public Relations Officer, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), artists mainly expressed their views about abuse of women in the country. Current issues like women safety, environmental issues and development, figured in the drawings.”
The objective behind the event is to promote art and art education in society, he added. The work will be on display until next weekend.
The birthday of creative genius Leonardo da Vinci is celebrated annually as World Art Day.
