Dee Baird, head of the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance for more than four years, has been named as senior vice president of economic development for the Greater Omaha Chamber.
Baird begins the new job next month, the chamber said.
Baird will focus on developing and implementing chamber initiatives to attract and retain business in the area, a statement from the organization said Monday. She also will lead the day-to-day operations of the Greater Omaha Economic Development Partnership, the chamber’s initiative for economic development for six counties in eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa.
Baird resigned from the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance in April 2016. She had been the organization’s CEO and president since its inception in 2011.
She has a Ph.D. in Education Policy and Leadership Studies from Iowa State University, and a Master of Education, Higher Education, also from ISU.
