The Ram Rebel TRX May Actually be Happening [Updated]

In late 2016, Ram Trucks sent the truck community into a frenzy when it debuted the Hellcat-powered Rebel TRX Concept.  The Rebel TRX is an off-road truck fan’s dream come true. In addition to a 575 hp version of the 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 engine, the pickup featured off-road ready coil-link rear suspension, beadlock wheels wrapped in knobby tires, widened fender flares and racing-inspired interior. Reception to the concept was strong and Ram was even rumored to put the truck into production, but Fiat Chrysler has been suspiciously quiet in regards to a production Rebel TRX since then.

There now appears to be some movement on the Rebel TRX front, however. The Ram Trucks website added the Rebel TRX to the ‘upcoming vehicles’ category and added a landing page for the pickup. The site tells us to “get ready for the off-road king,” before directing us to sign up for updates on the truck at the bottom of the page. An automaker simply wouldn’t do this for a concept vehicle it didn’t intend to produce. Additionally, FCA’s has been known to deliver in a big way when it comes to enthusiast products, and it’s hard to think of a more profitable one than a Hellcat-powered Ram.

We’re not sure what the production Rebel TRX will have in store for us, but we’re expecting to be even more impressive than the concept. After all, it will benefit from being based on the new-and-improved Ram 1500, rather than the outgoing model.

Stay tuned for more info on this exciting pickup as it becomes available.

Update: As our friends over at AllPar point out, this is actually not a new addition to the Ram Trucks website. It’s still interesting to us that Ram keeps the Rebel TRX listed under a future vehicles section on its site, but this has been the case since late 2016. We remain hopeful and confident that Ram is indeed planning on producing the Rebel TRX, however.
