Canberra Capitals continue WNBL recruitment drive
Canberra Capitals coach Paul Goriss got off the plane from the Gold Coast and got straight to work in his bid to snap a WNBL finals drought.
Goriss is poised to announce Canberra's newest signing for the WNBL season on Tuesday, hours after returning from his duties as an assistant coach for the gold medal-winning Australian Opals at the Commonwealth Games.
It is believed emerging point guard Maddison Rocci is close to finalising a new contract to return for her second season in Canberra.
The 19-year-old is considered an Opal-in-waiting and could become the fifth player on Canberra's books for the 2018-19 season.
She would act as a deputy to veteran point guard Leilani Mitchell and link up with Opals star Kelsey Griffin, Keely Froling and Lauren Scherf.
Superstar Marianna Tolo could emerge as a recruitment target, but the star centre is recovering from her second knee reconstruction and would be unable to play until at least mid-November.
