Social, tribal welfare students top Inter charts

Achieve 87% average pass percent, about 15% higher than State average

Telangana Social and Tribal Welfare Residential students, with an average pass percentage of about 87%, well above the State average of 62.35%, performed exceptionally in the Intermediate junior and senior examination results declared here on Friday.

Hailing from humble backgrounds, the students of social welfare hostels emerged as top scorers in MPC, BiPC, CEC, MEC and HEC, with a total of 23 institutions securing 100% pass rate and 57 institutions above 90%.

Among the toppers are: B. Sreevani of TSWREIS Jaffergadh with 985 marks in MPC stream, B. Anusha from TSWREIS Khammam secured 984 in BiPC stream, V. Akhilabai from TSWREIS Medchal with 952 marks in MEC.

In tribal welfare hostels, 13 institutions secured above 90% pass rate, with toppers being B. Swetha of TTWRS COE Warangal, who secured 989 marks in MPC stream, B. Ganesh, IIT Rajendra Nagar with 986 marks in BiPC stream, V. Veena Kumari of Ankampalem college with 915 marks in CEC and D. Vimalatha, Sudimalla, who got 919 marks in HEC.

B. Swetha, the MPC topper hails from a tiny tribal hamlet in Miryalaguda and her dream is to become an IAS officer and provide justice for voiceless communities, whereas Sreevani, hailing from Thatikonda rural village in Jangaon district, says joining the social welfare hostel has been a turning point in her life. Her father is an agriculture labourer and undeterred by poverty, she aims to make it to the IIT.

TSWREIS and TTWREIS secretary R.S. Praveen Kumar congratulated the students, teachers and thanked the State government for its support in imparting quality education in social and tribal welfare residential educational institutions, a press release said.
