
Xiaomi Mi A1 has not been discontinued in India, the company told indianexpress.com. There were reports which claimed the phone had been discontinued for India, ahead of the launch of its successor in China. It was also out of stock on Flipkart and Mi.com The Mi A1 is the company’s first Android One-branded smartphone. An earlier report on 91Mobiles, which quoted sources, the phone has been discontinued for India.
It seems Xiaomi stopped supply of Mi A1 in offline stores, some months back, according to the report. The speculation is that Xiaomi is preparing for the launch of the phone’s successor, the Mi A2 in the coming days. The company is rumoured to launch the Mi 6X in China on April 25 and this phone will come to India as Mi A2, if one goes by the past trend.
While Mi A1 might not available for sale, there is a lot of interest on the upcoming Mi 6X. The company’s official invite does not exactly confirm the Mi 6X, but many believe Xiaomi will launch the successor to the Mi 5X on April 25. According to the leaked information, Mi 6X is believed to come with a 5.99-inch FHD+ display and an aspect ratio of 18:9. There will be a 4GB RAM and 32GB version, a 6GB RAM and 64GB variant, and a 6GB RAM and 128GB model. The processor will be a Snapdragon 660 processor — and yes, no 3.5mm headphone jack this time around.
On the camera front, Xiaomi Mi 6X will feature a 12MP sensor with a f/1.8 aperture and 20MP secondary camera with a f/1.8 aperture. The back camera will also be capable of recording 4K video. The front camera will be a 20MP unit with a flash. Previously XDA Developers had leaked, specifications of the Mi 6X, which they said will come with the newer display, Snapdragon 660 processor and improved camera.
The upcoming smartphone was first spotted on China’s TENAA, which is the certification authority. Leaked images of the device were also shared from this TENAA listing, which indicates a design language very similar to the Mi A1 or the Mi 5X that launched last year. Xiaomi will likely stick with the vertical rear camera on the Mi A2 or Mi 6X as well.
