Cop suspended for action during bandh

Morena:A police constable allegedly seen with agitators involved in damaging rail tracks during the nationwide protest on April 2, called by Dalit outfits, has been placed under suspension.Superintendent of Police (SP) Aditya Pratap Singh said that police constable Vinit Maurya, who was posted at the city's Harijan police station, has been suspended after a video, in which he is allegedly seen participating in the protests at a local railway station, went viral on social media.Agitators, during this protest, had damaged railway infrastructure and had pelted police with stones, he said.A case in this regard was also registered at the local railway police station on that day.Railway police station in charge Haricharan Lal said, "In the video, the constable (in civil dress) is seen participating in stone pelting and other unauthorised acts along with a mob of protesters." Protests across the country were organised on April 2 against a Supreme Court order of March 20, which agitators claimed diluted certain provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Two coaches derail at Salehana

Bhopal:Nearly two dozen passengers were injured when two coaches of a passenger train derailed near the Salehana Railway Station in Madhya Pradesh's Katni district last night.The train was heading from Katni to Chopan when the incident occurred. Rescue and relief teams reached the spot and began operations. The injured were rushed to the District Hospital. Public Relations Officer (Jabalpur Railway Zone) Gunjan Gupta confirmed the incident. Preliminary investigation revealed that the mishap was caused due to broken railway tracks. A major tragedy was averted as the train was moving in slow speed. Meanwhile, rail traffic on the down track of the Katni-Singrauli Rail Division was paralysed due to the mishap.

Govt is for welfare of journalists: Min

Bhopal:PR Minister Narottam Mishra said that the State Government is always ready for the welfare of journalists. Several decisions have been taken in the interest of journalists. Whatever demands related to journalists are put forward, government takes it seriously. He said this at the Shramjivi Patrakar Sangh Sammelan at Vrindavan Dham of Datia.Special guest MP Bhagirath Prasad, Vice Chairman Textbook Corporation Avdhesh Naik, MLA Pradeep Agrawal, Ghanshyam Pirounia and Vikram Singh Bundela were present on the occasion. Senior social worker Suman Ramkumar Dangi presented mementos to all guests at the programme.
