Women are slowly making their presence felt in the male-dominated world of superheroes and says she is happy the way female characters are now being treated in the genre.

In the Cinematic Universe (MCU), the 30-year-old Scottish plays Nebula, an anti-hero, whose only purpose is to kill Thanos.

"We are moving in the right direction. We have taken a step forward with 'Marvel' and I am so excited. I loved 'Wonder Woman' on the DC side. And it is going to be a big celebration for all of us to see a female-led movie," Gillian said in a group interview here.

The said she likes how presents its female characters without following the superhero cliches.

"What I love about is the female characters in the MCU are really diverse. I think women have a danger of getting stereotyped in superhero films, where they are all strong and bada** without any weaknesses.

"But in real life, women are vulnerable, strong and everything else. manages to show that beautifully... That makes me really happy," she said.

The said her "Guardians of the Galaxy" character will see a significant growth in the upcoming "Avengers: Infinity War".

"People will get to see more of Nebula's relation with Gamora and the reason why she hates Thanos. Joe and have presented the character beautifully. I enjoyed working with them," she said.

"Avengers: Infinity War" featuring Robert Downey Jr, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, and Chris Pratt, film releases on April 27.
