HYDERABAD: AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi has commented that justice has not been done in the
Mecca Masjid blast case as the National Investigation Agency (
NIA) court pronounced its verdict on Monday acquitting all the 10 accused, including Swami Assemanand.
Owaisi alleged that either NIA did not pursue the case as it was supposed to 'or not allowed by political masters'.
"In the
Mecca Masjid blast case, majority of the witnesses turned hostile after June 2014. What will be left of the criminal justice system if such biased prosecutions continue justice has not been done?" he questioned.
Owaisi said justice had not been done and the NIA and the Modi government did not even appeal against the bail that was given to the accused within 90 days. "This was a complete biased investigation which will weaken our resolve to fight terrorism".
In the Mecca Masjid blast case, nine people had died while many were injured in the incident on May 18, 2007.
Owaisi alleged that the investigation officer could not give proper statement in the court. "Everything was done to fail the victims and our fight against terrorism is weakened after today's acquittals," he said.
