Reports of shark attack at popular Gracetown surf break

A shark incident has been logged by police and emergency services at Left Handers surf break in Gracetown in the state's South West.

Police recieved reports a person had been bitten off the break just after 8am on Monday morning.

It's understood the person is out of the water and St John Ambulance has been advised.

The RAC Rescue Helicopter is also on route.

Surf breaks around Gracetown have been notorious with several fatal shark attacks in the past 10 years.

In 2013 surfer Chris Boyd, 35, was killed by a shark at Left Handers surf break .

Surfer Brad Smith, 29, died in a shark attack in 2004 at the very same surf break.

Father of two Nicholas Edwards died after being attacked by a large shark at South Point Break near Graceton in 2010.
