Engineering college principal’s house burgled

Thieves broke into the house of P. Dhananjayan, principal of Pondicherry Engineering College, and took away 40 sovereigns of gold jewellery and cash in the house at Avvai Nagar in Lawspet early on Sunday. The police said Dhananjayan, along with his family members, went to drop his son at the Chennai International Airport on Sunday.

When they returned at noon, they found the door broken open and the house ransacked. About 40 sovereigns of gold jewellery and ₹5 lakh were stolen from the steel cupboard.
