Terming the recent amendment to the Goa Daman and Diu Land Revenue Rules 1969 as unjustifiable, tribal associations in South Goa have demanded that the government do a rethink on the recently-issued notification of increasing by over three times the fees of the certified copies of survey plans.

Addressing media persons, representatives of various tribal associations including Peter Vaz, John Fernandes, Pobre Fernandes, Rupesh Velip claimed that as per the notification, the fees are increased by more than three times for certified copies of survey plans, document inspection, which has affected the tribal people. They further said that the tenants will face the pinch as in a small field paddy there are dozen of sub-divisions adding, “In Deao village of Ambaulim, Quepem there are 300-odd holdings and they are surveyed accordingly. We will forward representation to the Revenue Minister, Revenue secretary and the Chief Secretary.”
