Khariar Panchayat Samiti Chairman Balakrishna Sabar has drawn attention of the district administration about the encroachment of a building of the Block Resource Centre (BRC) at Khariar by a teachers’ association for the last three years.

“I raised this matter during the last Zilla Parishad meeting. I have also apprised the district Collector and the SSA DPC, but no action has been taken yet,” lamented Sabar.

The building was constructed at an expenditure of Rs 5 lakh in 2013-14 for creating better facilities for the BRC office. But the teachers now named it as Sikshak Bhawan, he said.

The technical assistant (TA) of the BEO has however informed that an extended building is being used by teachers. “We had constructed a room and a veranda but the association added another room to it. They also constructed a floor above the building and they claim that they have obtained permission from the district office,” said TA Kailash Meher.

Sabar, however, demanded an immediate inquiry into the matter and action against the officials who have allowed the association to encroach upon the Govt properties.
