Olentangy Berlin High School has filled the first of its spring coaching positions in naming Mike Weaver as baseball coach, pending school board approval.

Weaver has been a pitching coach at Olentangy Orange for three seasons.

“I have watched Mike work from my time at Orange,” athletics director John Betz said. “He’s been a pitching coach/assistant head coach with Phil (Callaghan) because he does the work with the pitchers. This is next step in his progression in his career.”

Weaver previously was an assistant at Central Crossing for 11 seasons, Dublin Coffman for two seasons and Defiance for two seasons.

“The opportunity to start a program and to be a part of the process of building a winning culture that (principal Todd) Spinner and Mr. Betz have laid the ground work for already was something that was very exciting to me,” Weaver said. “They are amazing leaders and I look forward to working with them. Their enthusiasm is off the charts.”
