NOIDA: A 60-year old man accused of land grabbing at massive scale was shot dead by two bike-borne criminals in Hindon Vihar in Sector 49 on Monday evening.
Motilal Goyal was shot at several times from point-blank range and collapsed at the 10-acre plot where he was supervising the foundation works of a commercial plaza near Salarpur road. Around 10-construction workers at the spot fled away after hearing the gunshots.

Goyal was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Police suspect the man was killed over old property and land dispute.

Shwetabh Pandey, Circle Officer, Noida III, said that the incident took place at around 5 pm. “Goyal was supervising the construction work while some workers were at the spot. Two criminals on a Bajaj Pulsar, parked the bike just outside the boundary wall of the plot and entered the premises. The criminals suddenly took out pistols and sprayed bullets at Goyal. The man received a bullet in his head and some bullets in his abdomen,” he said.

A team from Sector 49 police station reached the spot and found him fatally wounded at the spot. He was rushed to district hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The body has been sent for a post-mortem and reports are awaited. The police found seven used cartridges from the spot. It is not clear how many bullets Goyal received in the incident.

Goyal, a resident of Ghaziabad, was allegedly involved in land grabbing in Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Bulandshahr for last two decades. In 2005, Noida Police had arrested him in connection with land scams totalling almost Rs 2,500 crore.
