The Demons have gone backwards
Leading in to season 2018, senior people at the AFL thought Melbourne were premiership favourites.
But four rounds into the season, the Demons have looked brittle, dished up some woeful performances and some uninspiring wins.
They've actually gone backwards compared to their efforts last season.
This week on The Age Real Footy Podcast, Caroline Wilson, Jake Niall and Sam McClure are putting the Demons under the microscope. There's been plenty of external hype, but have they overrated themselves? Can their senior players lead a turnaround?
Plus: is Taylor Walker the right captain for the Crows going forward? And is the Anzac Day Eve clash now bigger than Anzac Day?
Also in this week's episode, the tough times continue at Carlton and they are in the box seat to finish last. And without a core of senior players, how are the Blues going to entice other players to join and help with their rebuild?
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs have turned things around and got respect back, the Eagles are flying and Richmond are a machine. Plus, whispers about Graeme Allan's son, the Collingwood AFLW star who could be moving to the Bulldogs and much, much more.
