It's time to head back to school! Netflix announced Monday that Dear White People returns for Season 2 on May 4.
The sophomore season of Justin Simien's college comedy will pick up with the aftermath of Season 1's black student protest that engulfed Winchester University in a civil war over the racial divide on campus. Now, they're getting into deeper and grittier -- no really, Season 2 will have a discussion of salty vs. sweet grits -- territory as the students of Winchester struggle to find their paths and who they want to be when they graduate.
Season 2 also welcomes Lena Waithe as a recurring guest star. Waithe was a producer on the 2014 film that set up the premise for the Netflix adaptation, but now she'll be playing "bragadocious MC" P Ninny, host of Dear White People's Love & Hip Hop spoof Trap House Tricks. You read that right, Defamation isn't the only fantastic guilty pleasure of Winchester University.
Get ready to drill down. Season 1 of Dear White People is currently streaming on Netflix.
