How is the Dividend Distribution Tax imposed by the new Budget different from the earlier one?
- SK Jain

Transcript: This budget has imposed Dividend Distribution Tax (DDT) on equity funds. Earlier, there was no tax on dividend from equity funds. Dividends only from debt mutual funds were liable to DDT. Now, if you hold your equity mutual funds for more than a year, the gains are taxed at 10 per cent. If dividend would have remained tax free, then there would have been an anomaly.
