'I've never seen a stadium so empty'

Channel Seven commentators Johanna Griggs and Basil Zempilas are being applauded this morning for their on-air criticism of a decision not to show Commonwealth Games athletes entering the stadium at the closing ceremony.

See the full spray:

On the roads

Collision in Narre Warren on Cranbourne Road at Fullard Road. Traffic is slow inbound on Wellington Road.

In some (admittedly rare) good news on the roads, Lower Plenty Road reopens today at Rosanna after two weeks closed for level crossing removal.

On the trains

Tough start for this caller to radio station 3AW, who says there are no trains on platform four at Southern Cross. Apparently it's causing delays: "Monday morning. You leave early to get to work early and look at it".

We're making some calls on this.

Making headlines

Top stories in the news this morning:

Clayton station opens

The new Clayton station opens today. There's free coffee for everyone who was affected by the level crossing removal works (and let's face it, anyone else who happens to pass by).

The station is part of the Caulfield to Dandenong level crossing removal project.

Closing ceremony stink

Australia's dominance of the Commonwealth Games ended on a sour note last night after organisers decided to largely exclude athletes from the televised closing ceremony.

That moment when the medal winners are cheered into the stadium? Viewers missed it, prompting outrage among fans and forcing Channel Seven's own commentators to slam the broadcast. What did you think? Let us know via email or Twitter.

On the roads

Accident inbound on the Monash Freeway at Belgrave-Hallam Road. Traffic is slow between Clyde Road and the South Gippsland Freeway. One also at Armadale on Dandenong Road, near Kooyong Road.

Body found in car

Mystery surrounds the discovery of a body in a parked car in a Geelong industrial area.

Police found the body while investigating a burglary in North Shore about 11am yesterday.

The person's identity or gender is not yet known. The body was in the car along with a suitcase and a rolled-up carpet.

A P what?

It's becoming a complicated choreography, this driving in Melbourne. Drivers add a new move to their repertoire today when P-turns are introduced on Hoddle and Johnston streets.

Motorists wanting to turn right from Hoddle Street or Johnston Street will need to drive through the intersection, make a U-turn ahead, then drive back to the intersection before turning left onto their desired road.
