GURUGRAM: In a bid to curb the misuse of its
emblem in Haryana,
Red Cross will
inspect chemist shops and private
clinics in the city this week.
A team of 50 members, that was recently constituted to check female feticide and pre-natal sex determination, will carry out inspections and impose fine on offenders.
A report on the same is to be submitted to Haryana government and those who refuse to take the emblems down may face further action.
“While we associate the Red Cross emblem with health care, it is still illegal for
chemists and doctors to use it on their own. It can only be used by the Red Cross organization,” said Shyam Sunder, secretary, Red Cross, Gurgaon. Currently, there is no record of how many chemists, clinics or private hospitals have been using the emblem.
Haryana’s governor Kaptan Singh Solanki will be in the city on May 8 on the occasion of World Red Cross day.
