Don’t restrict Ambedkar’s identity: Tamilisai

BJP State president Tamilisai Soundararajan slammed political parties and other organisations in the State opposing her party’s celebration of B.R. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary.

“The caste-based political parties and other organisations need not give only caste identity to Mr. Ambedkar. He is a national leader,” she said in a statement.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had attributed his political success to Mr. Ambedkar and the BJP government had been implementing various schemes which glorified the legend, Ms. Soundararajan added.

She also said in Tamil Nadu, an attempt was being made to project the BJP as a party against backward classes and urged political parties and associations not to do so.

She alleged that VCK cadre indulged in violence during BJP-organised events honouring Ambedkar.
