Youths, social activists clean Garga of garbage

Local youths, social activists, and members under the banner of World Green Line, undertook a cleaning drive at Garga river on Saturday and Sunday morning.

Secretary and social workers Priti Ranjan of WGL said, “people are polluting the local life line of Bokaro, Garga river by throwing garbage and other waste products in the river.”

 “Giving a push to the efforts across Chas and Bokaro to protect Garga river, around 50 members of World Green Line and some local youths have joined the drive to clean Garga river in their vicinity,” added Ranjan.

According to sources, a group of the members of the World Green Line and local youths worked through the day on Saturday to remove the garbage that was deposited in the river over the years.

Club members Rahul Pathak, Kundan Singh, Rakesh Singh, Raju Tiwari Ankur Thakur and Vikash Thakur jointly said that it would take least few months more to complete the cleaning of the river, which is filled with algae, plastic and others materials.

However they said that all members who have gathered early this morning near Garga river ghat and collected polythene bags and garbage at the ghat and deposited it in the nearby garbage dump.

We are very sorry to say in this drive we are not getting any support from the local district administration as well as Chas municipal corporation.

 Those present included Suriti Sinha ,Hars ,Aman Raj ,Kunal Kumar, Kartik Pal ,Dilip Kumar Sinha, Subash Mahto ,Shankar Dhar ,Satish Gupta,Dependra Prabhanjan and others.
