
Home health aide indicted in Troy animal cruelty case

TROY – A Rensselaer County grand jury has indicted a 29-year-old woman for intentionally injuring a dog, which was later euthanized, according to the indictment and city police reporters.
Gloria Carmona, a home health aide was indicted for felony aggravated cruelty to animals and overdriving, torturing and injuring animals, a misdemeanor.
Trop police arrested Carmona on Jan. 9 for allegedly injuring the dog, Mya, while taking care of it for a patient. The incident occurred between Nov. 23 and Nov. 25, at a 16th Street residence, according to the indictment. The court papers allege that Carmona “did, with no justifiable purpose, intentionally cause serious physical injury to Mya, a dog, with aggravated cruelty.”
The indict also alleges that Carmona “cruelly beat” Mya.
The grand jury handed up the indictment Friday.
