Stocks open open higher as investors focus on earnings

U.S. equity markets opened higher on Monday as investors welcomed a round of earnings reports showing solid growth. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 207 points, or 0.9%, to 24,570. The S&P 500 index advanced 16 points, or 0.6% to 2,671. Meanwhile the Nasdaq Composite was up 42 points, or 0.6% to 7,147 at the open. Among the best performers on the S&P 500, Tractor Supply Company shares jumped after analysts at Goldman Sachs upgraded the stock to buy from neutral.
