Six Haryana police pesonnel save crop from fire

In a rare gesture of goodwill and exemplary courage, six police personnel of Haryana Police posted at Bhuna in district Fatehabad have saved crop that was under fire.

While taking cognizance of  the videos of police officials that have gone viral on social media, Haryana Director General of Police (DGP), BS Sandhu on Sunday announced to honour the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Post, Bhunna and the police constables for their presence of mind and act of courage as they  saved wheat crop of a farmer by dousing flames with the help of tree branches and  also controlled its further spread to adjoining fields.

The DGP has announced to give cash award of Rs 10,000 each to SHO, Ramesh Kumar, his team of   police personnel posted at Police Post, Bhunna   and those from general public who also doused the flames. The police officials would also be given first class certificate in recognition of their act of bravery, said a spokesman of Police Department.

Sandhu was all praise for the police personnel who risked their own lives  for a public cause and said that there was no dearth of such courageous  police personnel, the spokesman said.

He said that while going to the police station, the SHO, Ramesh Kumar, exempted assistant sub- inspector (EASI), Krishan Kumar and Karambir Singh, Head Constable, Kailash and Krishan and constable, Ramesh saw smoke emitting out of crops of farmers Prem Singh and Kashmir Singh and immediately rushed to the spot of fire.

Without wasting any time, they began to control the fire with the help of branches of nearby trees. On seeing them, the people who were around also joined them and after a lot of efforts they successfully controlled the fire before it could spread to nearby area. Their collective effort minimized the loss of crop, he added.
