ACB to file petition for custody of Telangana judge, two others in bribery case

HYDERABAD: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials would file a petition before the court seeking police custody of three accused in bribe for bail case for questioning them in connection with the case. On Friday, the agency arrested first additional metropolitan sessions court, Nampally, S Radhakrishna Murthy and two advocates K Srinivas Rao and G Satish Kumar for allegedly taking bribe amount of Rs 7.50 lakh from an M.Tech student Dattu in granting bail in drug case that is being investigated by the Prohibition and Excise department.

Sources said that the agency officials are understood to have obtained call data records of two advocates Srinivasa Rao and Satish Kumar and anaylised the incoming and outgoing call data and tower locations. Officials said that the agency would take custody of the accused and question them by cross checking details in connection with the bribe for bail case. It is reported that the government is likely to suspend the judge Radhakrishna Murty as per rules and regulations if he is remanded to judicial custody for 48 hours.  

The ACB officials would record statements of Dattu and his family members in connection with bribe for bail case. In the petition, a practising advocate told High Court that the accused Dattu’s family members received information about advocates who mediated with the judicial officers in offering bribe for granting bail.
